This is Mark. He is 47 years old and has 4 kids. He hasn’t been in contact with any of his children since hitting a really hard patch in his life about 7 years ago, which still affects him to this day. He was a truck driver for 17 years, until one day a series of events (which I couldn’t quite make out during our conversation) led him to lose his licence. This obviously led to him losing his job and livelihood of the previous 2 decades – all he had known. This not only led to him abusing drugs, but eventually, being forced to live on the streets as well. He now suffers from schizophrenia. Although he’s not in contact with his family these days, when I met him, his neighbours on the street seemed to consider him a true part of the community, showing him love and compassion. It was heart-warming to at least see that bond amongst people who barely knew each other. Just goes to show that as humans we have that capacity for good. #thestreetsbarber #cleancutcleanstart
